2017 Fashion Week Nail Trends: Don't Call it a Comeback!
There may be 52 weeks in a year, but there is only one capable of bringing out fashion's most sought after names--FASHION WEEK.
The Big Four (Paris, Milan, London and New York) just wrapped up their Fall 2017 collections and the statement about nail trends were as bold as the pieces making their catwalk debut.
Fashion often recycles itself, which is to be expected--but who knew that some of the oldest nail trends could go from archaic to contemporary overnight. We saw the return of the classic bankersuits and denim on the runway, but the return of chrome, metal embellishments and the au naturale manicures stole the show.
Here are our favorite runway nail trends guaranteed to create all the buzz this fall season:
Chrome Nails:
That’s right! Chrome is back, but don’t call it a comeback because this isn’t the chrome you’ve once known. Sometimes referred to as metallic or foils--we call it a season must-have! Unlike when chrome nails infamously made its debut during the disco era (1970s) , the new chrome nails effect can be applied using pigment powder. This gives the illusion of a more contemporary and chic aesthetic. Designers such as Tadashi Shoji, Naeem Khan, Michael Costello, and Christian Siriano all featured models with a chrome effect nail design.

Embellishments Galore:
We’ve all heard the saying, ‘be careful, before you poke someone’s eye out’...well this latest nail trend may do just that. Prior to fashion week, we’ve seen Kim Kardashian and Rihanna sport the chain embellishments, so it comes as no surprise that this was a runway hit. Philipp Plein and Libertine were among the crowd favorites with their over-the-top nail embellishments which featured metal chains, 3-D medallions and more.

Au Naturale Nails:
Among the trends that seem too good to be true was the return of the natural manicure. Many models rock natural manicures that either accentuated their natural skin tones or highlighted a pop of glam. Designers like Tibi were proud to reiterate what we already know--sometimes less is more.
