The 2% Black Nail Tech Initiative

Created by the founders of IV KULTURE in 2020, The 2% Black Nail Tech Initiative focuses on amplifying black nail technicians by creating a platform that supports, collaborates and showcases their artistry. Black nail technicians make up only 2% of registered nails techs - one of the largest gaps in the beauty cosmetics industry. In order to build an inclusive nail community, there must be a space and place for the voices of the disenfranchised.

According to the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS), nail tech training programs cost $3,000 to $10,000 (including tuition, fees, books, and supplies). We need your help.

HOW TO SUPPORT

A portion of sales from IV KULTURE products help support this initiative. This includes creating a black nail tech directory designed to elevate their artistry and function as a platform for the nail techs to grow their clientele; a top obstacle once completing cosmetology school.

OUR MISSION

To create a more inclusive and diverse environment for black nail artistry and products. Through this effort, we can help close this gap and achieve a more connected nail community.

OUR GOAL

  • Build a black nail tech directory across 50 states in the U.S.
  • Help 400 black nail techs obtain their license and operate in the U.S.
  • Locate apprenticeship opportunities and support the cost of nail insurance and cosmetology school testing fees
